Sendas exists to help build a better future for Honduras.
We are an independent, nonpartisan organization whose sole interest is in the long-term well-being of the nation and its people. We believe Honduras can achieve a prosperous and stable economic future, driven by broad-based growth that reduces poverty.
Grounded in rigorous analysis and shaped by global context, our work will translate into practical actions with measurable impact.
We aim to provide independent capacity — people, resources, and institutional strength — to help catalyze a more prosperous and resilient future for all Hondurans. We will partner with government, private industry, civil society, and grassroots efforts—driven by the belief that Hondurans working together across sectors and within communities can create substantial and lasting change.
Sendas was founded by Billy Alvarado, an early employee and former Chief Business Officer at Stripe, the global technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet. Born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Billy is a graduate of Academia Los Pinares, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He lives in California with his wife, Carole Kennedy Alvarado. Together, Billy and Carole fund and steer the work of Sendas.
